#ดอกบัวบอกความหมายของพุทธธรรมหลายอย่างล้วนแต่ประเสริฐเลิศล้ำทั้งนั้น

1. บอกถึงชีวิตมนุษย์ทั้งหลายที่เต็มไปด้วยทุกข์และอันตรายของชีวิตนั้นเปรียบเหมือนบัวที่เกิดใต้ตม แม้เติบโตมาอยู่เหนือตมก็ยังไม่พ้นอันตราย จมอยู่ใต้น้ำ จนนาน จึงค่อยผ่านผิวน้ำขึ้นบนน้ำ แล้ว รอวันเบิกบาน่  นี้แหละหมายถึงชีวิตเรา เจริญไปเป็นขั้น ๆ ตอน ๆ แบบบัว 4 เหล่า ในตม  พ้นตม ในน้ำ และเหนือน้ำ และบานได้ เหมือนชีวิตมนุษย์ ย่อมศึกษาหาความรู้มาตามลำดับ จนกว่าจะพ้นน้ำและบาน จึงถือว่าสำเร็จเป้าหมายของชีวิต มีความสุขขึ้นมาได้  

ประการที่2 บัวหมายถึงวิถีทางนักบวช ที่สู้กิเลสและกามตัณหาโดยเฉพาะ  บัวที่ค่อย ๆ เติบโตจากบัวใต้ตม ใต้น้ำ ไปถึงบัวเหนือน้ำ แล้วเบิกบานในที่สุดนั้น บอกความหมายของการมีชีวิตที่ถูกกามตัณหาครอบงำมาตลอด  บัวระดับต่างๆ จะบอกอารมณ์ทางกามของนักบวช  บัวใต้น้ำนั้นหมายถึงยังถูกครอบงำด้วยกิเลสกามตัณหาเต็มที่ มีอารมณ์เป็นอันหนึ่งอันเดียวกับอารมณ์กามหากมีวัตถุกามมาก็จะมีการเสพสม พ้นไปจากวิถีทางนักบวชไป แต่หากบัวค่อยเติบโตพ้นตมพ้นน้ำขึ้นไปเรื่อยๆนั้นหมายถึงการยกระดับจิตใจของตนให้สูงขึ้นไปเรื่อย ๆ ก็จะค่อยพ้นไปจากระดับอารมณ์แห่งกาม กามก็ค่อยผ่อนคลายลง ก็จะค่อยพ้นไปจากการถูกรัดรึงผูกมัดด้วยกามตัณหาไปตามลำดับ   และครั้นถึง##วันบัวบานแล้ว ก็หมายถึงพ้นไปได้แล้วจากกามตัณหาสำเร็จเป็นพระอริยบุคคลอรหันต์ได้นั้นเอง 

ฉะนั้นดอกบัวจึงเป็นผู้สอนวิธีการต่อสู้เอาชนะกามกิเลสนั่นเอง โดยที่ต้องยกระดับจิตใจให้สูงขึ้นไปเรื่อย ๆเหมือนดอกบัว การทำจิตให้สูงขึ้นไปได้  ไม่อยู่ต่ำหรืออยู่กับที่นั้นแหละวิธีการเอาชนะกามตัณหา เหมือนบัวค่อยพ้นตมพ้นน้ำ ไปเหนือน้ำแล้วเบิกบาน นั่นแหละหมายถึงการฝึกจิต โดยค่อยฝึกใจตนเองให้สูงขึ้นไป เรื่อย ๆ  ทำจิตใจให้สูง อย่าใจต่ำ พอขึ้นเหนือน้ำและเบิกบาน นั่นแหละหมายถึงดวงจิตพ้นไปจากกามกิเลสโดยสิ้นเชิง ก็พ้นทุกข์ไปจากกาม  ก็สว่าง สำเร็จมรรคผลระดับสูงสุดได้    นี่คือ เรื่องที่บัวสอนเราเรื่องการเอาชนะกามกิเลส ด้วยการยกจิตของเราให้สูงขึ้น เหมือนดอกบัวบานนั้นเอง คำว่าใจสูง จึงมาจากดอกบัวบานนี่เอง
